KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Prisons Department allows visits and family reunions of prison inmates in conjunction with Aidilfitri on the third and fourth day of Eid at all prison institutions in the country.
They include the Moral Rehabilitation Centre, Special Rehabilitation Centre, Special Detention Centre and Henry Gurney School, the department said in a statement today,
It said the visiting hours will be from 8.15 am to 4.15 pm with priority given to Muslim inmates.
For the visit, it said, visitors are required to bring their identification cards and visiting cards but are not allowed to bring food and drinks to inmates.
“Giving money to inmates is not encouraged since they have been provided with all basic facilities by the Prisons Department, but if visitors wish to give money for a specific purpose such as payment of examination fees and so on, please obtain an official PPT. 28 receipt as an acknowledgement of receipt,” read the statement.
For families who cannot attend physically, it said, online meetings will be held from April 4 to 6.
