GAS PIPELINE BLAZE: DZULKEFLY COMMENDS AUTHORITIES, MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL FOR SWIFT RESPONSE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad commended the authorities for their swift response to the gas pipeline blaze at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, today.

In a Facebook post this evening, he expressed gratitude to the Royal Malaysia Police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the National Disaster Management Agency, the Prime Minister's Department, and the Health Ministry (MOH).

He also thanked medical professionals, particularly those from nearby private clinics and hospitals, for their immediate assistance to the victims.

"Our healthcare system must operate with a whole-of-nation approach (#WholeOfNation), where public, private, and third-sector institutions collaborate to deliver the best possible care," he said.

While MOH had anticipated emergency scenarios, he said the fire still posed challenges to the response teams, particularly in handling burn injuries.

As of 4 pm, 28 victims were receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Idris Shah, Serdang, 24 at Hospital Cyberjaya, 13 at Hospital Putrajaya and two at Hospital Ampang.

Another 37 were treated at private hospitals, with 22 at Subang Jaya Medical Centre, eight at Sunway Medical Centre, five at Avisena Hospital, and one at Thomson Hospital, while 41 individuals have been discharged. 

Meanwhile, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz prayed that all victims would recover and have the strength to face the ordeal.

In a Facebook post today, he also expressed his sympathy to those involved in the shocking incident that occurred on Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“May Allah SWT grant recovery to the injured and courage to those who suffered home and property damages to weather the losses,” he said.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu also prayed that all victims would be strong and resilient in facing the ordeal, while being vigilant and obey the instructions of the authorities’ for their safety.

“Avoid approaching the incident area and immediately report any suspicious situation to the authorities,” he said.

Also expressing her sympathy was Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching who advised all victims not to hesitate or be shy to contact the authorities if they need help.

“We are with you in this difficult time. May all those affected be given the strength and fortitude to recover,” she said in a Facebook post.
