FREE PASSPORT REPLACEMENT FOR PUTRA HEIGHTS FIRE VICTIMS - IMMIGRATION DEPT

03/04/2025 06:39 PM

PUTRAJAYA, April 3 (Bernama) -- The Immigration Department is offering free Malaysian international passport replacements for victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had directed the immediate rollout of this initiative.

“Victims who lost their passports or had them damaged in the fire can apply for a replacement at any nearby immigration office without any charges,” he said in a statement.

To qualify for the free replacement, he said the passport must still be valid for at least six months, and applicants should present the original passport if available.

Additionally, applicants must submit copies of reports from the police, fire department or relevant local authorities.

Zakaria said the initiative aims to simplify the process for affected individuals and ease their burden in the aftermath of the incident.

For more information or assistance, applicants can visit the nearest immigration office.
