MPKK CHAIRMAN REMANDED SEVEN DAYS OVER ALLEGED POWER ABUSE

17/04/2025 06:45 PM

SEREMBAN, April 17 (Bernama) – A Village Community Management Council (MPKK) chairman from a district in Negeri Sembilan has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist investigations into alleged abuse of power involving the withdrawal of funds from the MPKK’s account.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran after approving an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

According to sources, the man in his 60s was detained when he turned up to give a statement at the MACC Negeri Sembilan office at around 6 pm yesterday.

The suspect is believed to have misused his position by withdrawing approximately RM10,000 from the MPKK’s bank account for personal use in 2023.

It is understood that the funds in question were part of a state government grant intended for implementing programmes in the village and promoting local community engagement.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
