KANGAR, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Rukun Negara pledge was recited at the Perlis State Legislative Assembly for the first time today.
It was led by assistant secretary of the State Assembly and State Executive Council (MMK), Mohd Anwar Sahul Hameed.
Speaker Rus'sele Eizan said the state received a letter from National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang on Sept 12 last year on the Cabinet’s decision to introduce the recitation of the pledge during the official opening of state assembly sittings.
"(It is) to ensure the Rukun Negara continues to be appreciated and embedded in daily life,” he said.
The recitation of the pledge was carried out at the Dewan Rakyat for the first time on Feb 27 last year.
