REVIEW CONTENT INVOLVING NATIONAL SYMBOLS BEFORE RELEASE - AARON

24/04/2025 06:42 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- Individuals and organisations are urged to carefully review any content featuring national symbols, whether physical or digital, before publishing or broadcasting it.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said such vigilance is crucial to uphold the nation's dignity and instil a sense of respect and patriotism among Malaysians.

“I would like to remind all parties, be they from the government, private sector, media or individuals, to remain sensitive and responsible in their use of the Jalur Gemilang and any other symbol that represents the country’s sovereignty.

“In this age of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used across various fields, including in design and digital content distribution. However, technological advancement should never be an excuse for negligence or errors in the use of national symbols,” he said in a post on X today.

He said national symbols, including the Jalur Gemilang, are not mere emblems but represent the identity, sovereignty and spirit of unity of the Malaysian people.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education said it is conducting a detailed investigation into the incorrect display of the Jalur Gemilang in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Results Analysis Report.

Several AI-generated images shown on pages 14 and 15 of the report depicted the national flag inaccurately.
