PUTRAJAYA, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) reaffirmed its commitment to upholding integrity and good governance at the global level during the Saudi-Maldives International Forum on Integrity 2025, held at Villa Nautica, Maldives, on May 6 and 7.
In a statement today, the commission said the Malaysian delegation to the forum was led by MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, along with representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
During the High-Level Speakers session, Ahmad Khusairi delivered a speech highlighting the importance of integrity in the tourism sector while outlining the challenges faced and the solutions implemented by Malaysia.
“These include the implementation of an online tourist registration system, the adoption of a centralised foreign worker management system, the installation of autogates at airports, and the introduction of the National Tourism Policy and National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS),” the statement read.
Ahmad Khusairi also touched on critical issues such as the misuse of tourist visas for human trafficking, fraud in online tourism services, bribery in the visa approval process, and illegal cooperation between travel agencies and enforcement personnel.
The forum, themed “Strengthening Integrity and Combating Corruption in the Tourism Sector”, was attended by more than 190 delegates from over 50 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and international organisations.
The MACC delegation also held a series of bilateral meetings with international anti-corruption agencies and law enforcement bodies, such as the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) of South Africa, the Anti-Corruption Directorate with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Republic of Maldives.
“The meetings provide an opportunity to strengthen cross-border strategic cooperation, especially in areas such as information sharing, investigative experience, and technical cooperation in anti-corruption prevention and enforcement,” the statement said.
