KELANTAN SET TO STAGE FIRST-EVER LARGE-SCALE CHILDREN'S THEATER PRODUCTION ''DI MANA PUTRA ?"

KOTA BHARU, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Kelantan is set to host its first-ever large-scale children's theatre production, "Di Mana Putra? Kembara Ilusi Merentas Imaginasi, Fantasi dan Realiti". 

Staged by Anak Seni Pendidikan Kelantan (Aspek), the groundbreaking show is poised to captivate theatre lovers across the country.

The 90-minute performance will feature a cast of over 20 and will be held at the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) Auditorium in Tanjong Chat on Oct 17 and 18 at 9.00 pm.

The scriptwriter, Lamia Aimal, described the theatre piece as a story of spiritual purification for its main character, Putra, a mischievous 12-year-old boy who is prone to fantasising and often takes advantage of others.

"The show takes the audience on a journey with Putra, who mysteriously disappears and finds himself trapped in a fantasy world, where he encounters various characters, including Jack Sparrow and Peter Pan, as well as local figures like Tok Janggut, Sarjan Che Wan, and Tok Kenali.

“Through this experience, Putra finally learns the value of his true self and the importance of appreciating those around him," she said.

Meanwhile, the director, Aqil Rozai, added that the production also features child actors from various schools and ASWARA alumni. 

"The performance is enhanced with traditional Kelantanese folk games, interactive segments with children, and a choral performance by 13 primary school students. The children involved are not only learning performing arts but also building self-confidence and communication skills," he added.

Meanwhile, JKKN Kelantan director, Rohaniza Abdullah, said the production is a joint initiative between the department and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), aimed at providing a platform for local theatre practitioners to showcase their work.
