TEKUN NASIONAL DISTRIBUTES RM109 MLN TO SABAH ENTREPRENEURS

KENINGAU, Oct 14 -- TEKUN Nasional, an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), has distributed a total of RM109 million to 4,675 TEKUN entrepreneurs in Sabah for the January to September period.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said of this total, the Keningau parliamentary constituency received RM8.6 million in financing for 444 TEKUN entrepreneurs for the same period.

"Overall, since its inception in 1998 till September 2025, TEKUN Nasional has distributed RM1.26 billion to 67,248 entrepreneurs in Sabah. For the Keningau parliamentary constituency alone, a total of RM57.6 million has been distributed to  2,904 entrepreneurs in the same period," he said.

Ewon said this in a statement after attending the TEKUN Nasional Entrepreneurs' Welcome Ceremony at the Dewan Tomuan Aki Taingadon, Tamu Pekan Bingkor here today.

He said the government always places the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector and micro-industry as the main pillars of the country's economic development, especially in Sabah which is rich in entrepreneurial potential.

He said that Budget 2025, themed "The People's Budget", which was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, proves the government’s commitment with the allocation of RM2.5 billion to agencies, including TEKUN Nasional and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), to benefit micro entrepreneurs.

"Business success does not only depend on capital, but also entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. Join the training and guidance programmes provided by agencies under KUSKOP," he added.
