KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2025 officially kicked off today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), aiming to generate RM5.5 billion in business leads and attract 50,000 visitors over three days.

Organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), in collaboration with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), IGEM is the longest-running green technology exhibition in the region, featuring 500 exhibition booths representing 50 countries.

In a statement today, NRES said IGEM 2025 was not just a showcase, but a marketplace where ideas became investments and partnerships.

“With memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed, new collaborations announced, and platforms such as the Malaysia Carbon Market Forum underway, IGEM is demonstrating its ability to convert ambition into real opportunities that strengthen ASEAN’s green economy,” it said.

Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, who officiated the opening day, highlighted Malaysia’s leadership role as ASEAN Chair 2025, emphasising that it was about turning inclusivity and sustainability into shared progress.

“IGEM reflects this vision by convening regional leaders, innovators, and communities to work together on practical solutions for the climate transition. It demonstrates that collaboration is the foundation of a just and resilient future for ASEAN,” he said.

According to NRES, over the next two days, IGEM 2025 will feature several flagship programmes highlighting ASEAN’s leadership in climate action and green innovation, including the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum (ACEF), Third Energy Efficiency Forum, Malaysia-Japan Environment Week, Third Malaysia Carbon Market Forum and Ozone to Climate Seminar.

“Business Matching sessions organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will continue throughout IGEM 2025, driving investment opportunities and fostering cross-border deals,” the statement added.

Among the 500 exhibitors participating this year are leading names in green energy, such as Petronas, showcasing hydrogen energy and carbon capture technologies; Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), presenting large-scale solar and innovative grid technologies; OCBC Bank, promoting green financing solutions; and Xiamen Solar First Energy Technology, featuring a wide array of offerings and services.

“IGEM 2025 has set the stage for an impactful week of green innovation and business collaboration. As ASEAN Chair 2025, Malaysia is reinforcing its leadership in driving the region’s net-zero transition, ensuring that inclusivity and sustainability remain at the heart of growth,” said NRES.
