KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao, the Philippines, at 7.03 am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement, said the earthquake was centred at coordinates 9.8 degrees North and 126.2 degrees East, about 76 kilometres east of Surigao City, the Philippines.
The department also said that the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 52 kilometres, does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia.
