KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi welcomes the fruitful bilateral meeting held today between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and South Korean Lee Jae Myung, which reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between both nations.
In a Facebook post today, Nanta said in line with the elevation of Malaysia-South Korea relations to a Strategic Partnership, the Works Ministry continues to strengthen collaboration with the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) in the field of infrastructure development, construction technology, and intelligent transport systems (ITS).
“Both ministries have made significant progress towards the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Infrastructure Development and Construction Technology, which is scheduled to be formalised soon,” he said.
According to Nanta, the MoU will pave the way for deeper cooperation in areas such as smart tolling and intelligent transport systems (ITS); smart and sustainable construction practices; infrastructure maintenance and road asset management; and toll road policies, laws, and regulations.
“The collaboration aims to accelerate Malaysia’s adoption of cutting-edge Korean technologies, including smart mobility and construction innovations, fostering mutual growth and a long-term strategic partnership between both countries.
“MOW deeply appreciates the Republic of Korea’s steadfast support, expertise, and collaborative spirit, which have been instrumental in advancing our shared goal of building a modern, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure ecosystem,” he added.
The meeting between Anwar and Lee was held in conjunction with the ongoing 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
