KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Istana Budaya Traditional Orchestra conductor, Mohd Yazid Zakaria, died at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, at about 11 am today after complaining of feeling unwell, according to his fourth son, Ahmad Ariff Azhari.
Ahmad Ariff Azhari, 23, said his father was initially taken to a clinic in Paroi Jaya for treatment.
“At the clinic, while waiting for treatment, my father went to the restroom, experienced muscle cramps, and lost consciousness.
“The clinic staff performed CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and my sister immediately called for an ambulance. When we arrived at the hospital, doctors confirmed that my father had passed away,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
He added that the cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination, and his remains will be laid to rest in Seremban after the necessary arrangements are completed.
Mohd Yazid, 57, is survived by his wife and five children. His eldest daughter is scheduled to be married on Nov 1.
He was named Tokoh Pekerja Negara (Public Service Category) during the 2024 Workers’ Day celebration.
Mohd Yazid also led the performance during the ASEAN Gala Dinner held in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit.
