QUBE SEEKS GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS TO MAKE MALAYSIA A REGIONAL CONSTRUCTION HUB

29/10/2025 09:52 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd aims to forge strategic partnerships with global showcases and position Malaysia as a regional hub for construction excellence through its flagship event Malaysia International Building and Construction Industry Showcase (BuildXpo Malaysia) 2025.

Its executive chairman, Richard Teo said the company is also committed to expanding BuildXpo's international presence.

“One of our key collaborations is with GlassTech Asia & Fenestration Asia (GAFA) 2026, organised by Messe München International Asia.

“Held alongside BuildXpo 2026, GAFA will feature 350 exhibitors focusing on glass, windows, façades and sustainability - complementing BuildXpo’s emphasis on construction technology, equipment and materials,” he said.

Teo said this in his speech during the opening ceremony of the International Construction Week (ICW) and BuildXpo Malaysia 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.

The opening ceremony also saw the launch of the Malaysian Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Roadmap 2030 by the Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and the formalisation of a collaboration under the Construction Digital Maturity Index (CDMI) Programme.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP).

Teo said Qube’s vision has always been to create meaningful platforms where innovation meets opportunity, enabling businesses to connect, collaborate and grow, adding that BuildXpo was designed precisely for that purpose — to bridge industry needs with innovation and investment.

“This year, BuildXpo 2025 spans over 10,000 square metres and features 150 companies with 350 exhibition booths representing 11 countries and territories, including Malaysia, Austria, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Thailand, the United States and the United Kingdom.

“Across these halls, visitors will find the best of what the industry has to offer — from advanced construction technologies and materials to smart machinery, digital tools and sustainable building solutions,” he said.

Teo added that BuildXpo’s role as a transformative platform was recognised in August when BuildXpo Malaysia 2024 received the Trade Exhibition Excellence Award in the 10,001–20,000 sqm category at the Malaysia Business Events Awards 2025.

“This recognition reflects the collaborative spirit we share with CIDB, our partners and exhibitors,” he said.

He also said that this year, Qube welcomed 17 international buyers from 12 countries, including Bangladesh, China, Greece, India, Kuwait, Myanmar, the Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Trinidad & Tobago, covering sectors from green technology to smart infrastructure.

“These one-on-one sessions foster real trade linkages, technology transfer and investment partnerships. Together with the broader BuildXpo platform, the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) is expected to generate over RM700 million in potential trade value, demonstrating the strength and vibrancy of Malaysia’s construction industry,” Teo said.

Meanwhile, CIDB chairman Datuk Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab said the three-day programme, beginning on Oct 28, aims to give contractors, developers, engineers, designers and other construction players access to the latest technologies and opportunities for knowledge sharing.

"This year’s ICW includes many exciting programmes like Women in Construction and Facility Management, along with active participation from universities in various activities and competitions.

“Winners of these competitions will receive awards from CIDB as a mark of appreciation,” he said at a press conference after the opening ceremony.

Yusuf added that the event also features 10 investors showcasing their innovations and products throughout the week as part of the ongoing competitions.
