SERI ISKANDAR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- The Perak State Education Department (JPN) is fully prepared for any potential flooding to ensure the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations are conducted smoothly, said State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah.
He said the preparations were conducted in line with Ministry of Education guidelines, and that JPN held a briefing earlier this month on the standard operating procedures (SOP) for managing SPM candidates during disasters.
“The SOP has been in place for several years and now only needs to be monitored for compliance, ensuring that all candidates can sit for their examinations as scheduled.
“The briefing and guidelines were also conveyed to all relevant parties, including school principals, examination secretaries, as well as agencies such as the police, fire and rescue department, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, to ensure that in the event of a disaster, all agencies can coordinate effectively to safely assist candidates in reaching examination centres,” he said.
Khairudin spoke to reporters at a press conference following the launch of Youth Smart Money Fest at Al-Khawarizmi Hall, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar Campus, here today.
Meanwhile, Khairudin called on young people to enhance their financial literacy to better navigate today’s economic challenges and avoid unlicensed investment schemes promising quick returns, stressing that financial management skills are no longer just an added advantage but an essential life skill.
“Financial wisdom isn’t measured by the amount of money one has, but by how it is managed and utilised. With a wide array of investment options and financial offers just a click away, some legitimate, others potentially trapping, it is crucial to learn to distinguish between needs and wants,” he added.
