KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has announced the appointment of Edward Ling as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective tomorrow, replacing Thomas Mathew.

According to TalentCorp, Ling, who holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) from Monash University in Melbourne, has over two decades of experience in business transformation, digital innovation and strategic partnerships across multinational and high-potential organisations.

“His career spans various leadership roles at leading organisations such as LinkedIn, Waze, Google and L’Oréal Malaysia, where he played a key role in strengthening digital capabilities, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors and developing the regional talent ecosystem.

“He has also served in senior positions at Doctor Anywhere, Yinson Capital and Fujitsu Malaysia, with extensive experience in supporting organisational growth, innovation and ecosystem development,” TalentCorp said in a statement today.

TalentCorp said Ling is known for his ability in linking corporate expertise with national development goals and has spearheaded initiatives that enhance cross-sector collaboration, digital readiness and workforce competitiveness.

“With his appointment, TalentCorp aims to further drive the nation’s talent transformation agenda through closer collaboration between industry, government and global partners,” the statement said.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, in the same statement, said the ministry looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with TalentCorp in strengthening Malaysia’s future workforce agenda under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA).

“I am confident that TalentCorp will continue to combine industry expertise with policy insights to strengthen collaboration between the government and industry, ensuring that the nation’s talent strategy remains aligned with both national and global economic needs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sim extended his appreciation to Thomas for his dedication and contributions towards strengthening Malaysia’s talent ecosystem and building a strong institutional foundation that has enabled the agency to play a more effective role in shaping the nation’s talent and skills agenda.

TalentCorp chairman Wong Shu Qi also recorded appreciation to Thomas for his leadership since 2020, which has seen the agency’s growth from a programme-driven organisation to a policy enabler and strategic think tank under KESUMA.

“Thomas Mathew’s leadership over the past five years has been instrumental in enhancing TalentCorp’s credibility and impact. He has transformed the organisation into a forward-looking, data-driven and financially sustainable agency that plays a key role in shaping the nation’s workforce strategy.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank him for his commitment and dedicated service. We also welcome the appointment of Edward Ling to lead TalentCorp into its next phase,” she said.
