KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the family of eminent historian Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Ahmat Adam, who passed away this evening.
Anwar described the passing of Ahmat, who devoted his life to upholding knowledge and strengthening national identity through history, as a great loss to the nation’s intellectual community.
“My condolences to the entire family on the passing of the late Prof Ahmat Adam.
“I pray that the family will be granted strength and fortitude, and that his soul will be blessed and placed among the righteous and the faithful,” the Prime Minister said in a Facebook post today.
The late Ahmat was among 17 distinguished individuals appointed to the National Historians Council established in early September.
He was a Professor Emeritus in the field of history and had been actively writing since the 1970s.
