IIM CONTINUES TO PLAY ROLE IN CULTIVATING INTEGRITY VALUES THROUGH MIKE, SPINE INITIATIVES

IPOH, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) continues to play a vital role in efforts to cultivate integrity values among the people through several planned new initiatives.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, who is also the IIM chairman, said that among the initiatives are the launch of the Family Integrity Module (MIKe) and the Integrity Management and Governance System (SPINE).

"MIKe aims to empower the family institution as the main stronghold in the creation of character and noble values.

"The elements of family integrity values showcased through MIKe are anchored on the acronym KELUARGA (family), which stands for Kasih (Love); Empati (Empathy); Luhur (Virtuous); Usaha (Effort); Amanah (Trust); Rasional (Rational); Gigih (Determined); and Adil (Fair),” he said.

He said this in his speech during the 2025 National Integrity Month celebration at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

Earlier, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced the ceremony.

Also present was Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Shamsul Azri said SPINE, which is in the implementation process, aims to measure, assess and strengthen the practices of integrity and governance in an organisation.

He added that initiatives like MIKe and SPINE clearly reflected the government's continued commitment to strengthening the culture of integrity not only in public administration, but also in family institutions.

"It is also part of efforts to make Malaysia a nation with high integrity, trustworthiness and prosperity,” he added.

Meanwhile, he said the National Integrity Day, which was declared by the government on Nov 5, 2005 and now celebrated throughout the National Integrity Month, is an important platform in strengthening a culture of integrity among the people.

He added that throughout this year's National Integrity Month celebration, various programmes have and will be implemented by the IIM, in a strategic collaboration with multiple government agencies, institutions of higher learning and MADANI community partners.

One of the key programmes was the Oct 24-27 Prime Minister's Cup Integrity Premier Debate held at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

"The 2025 National Integrity Month will next see the organisation of an Islamic Premier Forum on Nov 6 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Seri Iskandar Campus, Perak.

"The next programme is a Friday sermon in conjunction with the celebration, whereby beginning Nov 7, sermons at all mosques nationwide will carry the same theme of 'Integriti Tonggak Kepimpinan Islam’ (Integrity the Pillar of Islamic Leadership).

"The sermon text has been prepared by IIM and will be handed over to all the state Islamic religious departments for distribution to all mosques nationwide,” he said.

The 2025 National Integrity Month, themed  “Integriti Teras Kesejahteraan Negara", expresses IIM's commitment to strengthening the culture of integrity, honesty, transparency and accountability in all layers of society as the cornerstone for the development of a prosperous, high-integrity and corruption-free nation.
