06/11/2025 04:54 PM

KOTA BHARU, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan government has allocated RM181.71 million to strengthen Islamic development, education and human capital in the state.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said this reflected the state government’s steadfast commitment to upholding Islam as the foundation and core of its administration.

“This allocation covers key institutions such as the Kelantan Islamic Foundation, Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic College University, the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department and the Darul Naim Training Institute, with a total allocation of RM150.77 million, and another Maahad Tahfiz will be developed in Kuala Krai starting in 2026.

“The state government also continues to focus on the construction and repair of mosques, and the development of pondok schools, tahfiz centres and madrasahs with an allocation of RM9 million, while RM10.2 million is for education and learning throughout Kelantan, including the Kelantan Rakyat Sejahtera Tuition programme,” he said when presenting the budget at the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly sitting at the Kota Darulnaim Complex here today.

He said the initiative aimed to ensure that every selected student, regardless of background, had access to quality free education.

Mohd Nassuruddin said RM2.55 million was allocated for the Public Sector Competency Development Programme to enhance efficiency and cultivate a high-performance work culture among state civil servants.

He said the state government had also taken serious measures to address social issues, including allocating RM3.05 million to strengthen moral and character education among the younger generation and curb the spread of social ills.

Meanwhile, he said RM81.77 million was allocated to strengthen food security for the people and ensure the sustainability of the state economy.

He said RM58.32 million was allocated for the welfare of the people, including 180 Rumah Dhuafa units—an increase of 45 units from the previous year—and 45 low-cost housing units will be given free to the public.

“The government is also demonstrating strong commitment in protecting vulnerable groups through the Al Musa’adah Monthly Aid Scheme, benefiting over 7,000 recipients each month, particularly the poor, widows, orphans, persons with disabilities and individuals with special needs, while the Al-It’am Scheme provides monthly basic food assistance to 13,620 recipients,” he said.
