KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Bhd successfully hosted the 2nd KPJ Eye Conference 2025 on Nov 1 and 2, bringing together more than 300 ophthalmologists and eye-care experts from private practice, academia and the public sector to exchange insights on cataract and refractive surgery.
Officiated by KPJ Health Chief Medical Director Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Lokman Saim, the conference was held in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the Malaysian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (MSCRS), with KPJ Healthcare University (KPJU) as the academic partner.
KPJ Healthcare President and Managing Director Chin Keat Chyuan said the conference provided a valuable platform for experts to exchange practical insights, supported by clinical data and shared case studies.
“Good vision supports independence and quality of life. As treatment options grow, specialists must build on real experience to guide patient decisions.
“Through continued collaboration with partners across the eye-care ecosystem, we will keep strengthening capability that benefits patients, in line with our purpose to Care for Life,” he said in a statement today.
Centred on the theme “Cataract & Refractive Surgery: Sharpening Our Vision for the Future”, the event featured 14 scientific sessions and 33 speakers, including KPJ Centre for Sight Medical Director Assoc Prof (C) Dr Norzalina Bachik, who is also the Head of Specialty for Ophthalmology at KPJ Healthcare.
Also sharing their expertise were Malaysia Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (MSCRS) President Prof Datuk Dr Khairidzan Mohd Kamal and Cataract and LASIK Surgeon at KPJ Centre for Sight Dr Helen Tan.
“Discussions covered developments in premium intraocular lenses (IOLs), advances in surgical techniques, AI-supported planning, presbyopia-correcting strategies and real-world outcomes,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the conference was part of the KPJ Health System, a structured approach that integrates clinical services, education and research to deepen subspecialty capability and strengthen patient care across the Group’s nationwide network.
“Through academic partnerships and upskilling opportunities led in collaboration with KPJU, the programme supports continuous learning and shared clinical advancement,” it said.
