MANAGE MOSQUE COOPERATIVES WELL AND WITH INTEGRITY - PAHANG SULTAN

KUANTAN, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has urged all mosque cooperatives nationwide, particularly in Pahang, to be managed efficiently, with integrity and accountability.

Al-Sultan Abdullah stated that well-managed cooperatives not only strengthen the community’s economy but also lay the groundwork for fostering cooperation among the people.

“It can unite the community’s role through cooperative programmes and reinforce the spirit of collaboration, while also reducing dependence on government funding and public contributions,” the Ruler said.

His Royal Highness made the remarks while officiating the national-level Mosque Cooperative Convention 2025, held here today, themed Koperasi Memperkasa Ekonomi Ummah, Membina Ekonomi MADANI, here today.

Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

The Ruler also recommended that cooperatives under village mosques diversify into various business sectors, including retail, laundry services, food catering, personal care, and umrah and haj packages.

His Royal Highness also expressed hope that Pahang cooperatives listed in Malaysia’s Top 100 Cooperative Profile for 2025 would achieve greater success, reaching the nation’s top 10 in the future.

Meanwhile, Al-Sultan Abdullah also ordered the over 1,800 mosque officers and staff across the state to contribute to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) for their benefit.

At the event, the Ruler conferred the 2025 Best Mosque Cooperative on Koperasi Masjid Nurul Yaqin Kelana Jaya Berhad and the Village Mosque Cooperative of Hope on Koperasi Masjid Nurussalam Gerik Berhad.

The convention, which convened 200 mosque cooperatives from across the country, aims to reinforce their role as catalysts for local Islamic community economic development and as a platform for fostering unity within the ummah through Syariah-compliant economic initiatives.

It is also a platform for sharing best practices and for strategic discussions to develop more sustainable, high-impact action plans for mosque cooperatives nationwide.
