RAPID KUANTAN BUS SERVICE TO CEASE OPERATIONS ON DEC 14

KUANTAN, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The Rapid Kuantan bus service, operated by Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) since November 2012, will cease operations on Dec 14.

Rapid Bus, in a statement, said that stage bus operations in Kuantan will now be taken over by Sanwa Tours (M) Sdn Bhd (Sanwa Tours) - the operator of Bas.My Kuantan - under the supervision of the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), to ensure the continuity of public bus services in the city.

“Throughout its service period, Rapid Kuantan has carried more than 28 million passengers, with an average of about 6,000 passengers per day, and at its peak recorded a daily average of over 15,000 passengers,” it said.

The company also expressed its deepest appreciation to the Pahang government, local authorities, strategic partners and the people of Kuantan for their continuous support since Rapid Kuantan’s establishment.

“Rapid Bus is grateful for the trust and support given throughout the years, and hopes the public will continue to choose public transport as part of a sustainable lifestyle,” it added.

Rapid Bus acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria said the company appreciates every passenger who has supported Rapid Kuantan since 2012, noting that the community’s backing has been a key driver in Rapid Bus’ efforts to strengthen the public transport system in Malaysia.

“We at Rapid Bus hope the public will continue to support and use the Bas.My Kuantan service under the management of Sanwa Tours,” he said in the same statement.
