ABANG JOHARI: SARAWAK INVITES CORPORATE SECTOR TO COLLOBORATE ON EDUCATION

KUCHING, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Sarawak invites the corporate sector, particularly those in the banking and education industries, to collaborate in strengthening the state’s education system.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said whether through sponsoring digital tools, funding teacher-training workshops or supporting learning hubs their participation will have long-lasting impact.

He said corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Sarawak must move beyond one-time donations to strategic, sustainable and aligned with the state’s long-term goals.

“The government can provide policy direction and infrastructure but we need the private sector, banks, universities and local communities to play an active role.

“Development is most effective when everyone contributes -- each according to their strengths and expertise,” he said in his speech during The Hornbill Foundation ‘No Kid Left Behind’ event here today.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari said as Sarawak continues to modernise, the state is preparing its people for the jobs of the future -- in renewable energy, digital services, artificial intelligence and green technology. 

He said to seize these opportunities, Sarawak’s youth must be equipped with technical skills, creativity and global awareness.

“We must view education not only as a social obligation but as a strategic investment. The knowledge and skills we cultivate today will determine Sarawak’s competitiveness tomorrow. That is why I always say: when we educate one child, we are not only changing one life; we are building a better Sarawak,” he added.
