KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is expanding its “Pasar Patuh” compliance programme to all public markets in the federal capital next year.
Its Kuala Lumpur Director, Mohd Sabri Seman, said the move is aimed at strengthening the culture of business compliance, thus ensuring that the country's trade ecosystem remains conducive, with integrity and transparency.
"It is also aimed at raising traders' awareness of the importance of complying with the law, promoting healthy competition among traders and protecting the rights and interests of consumers," he told a press conference after launching the programme at the Sungai Besi Public Market here today.
He said the Sungai Besi Public Market was chosen as the pilot for the programme following the deteriorating condition of its infrastructure and the decreasing number of visitors.
"The Kuala Lumpur KPDN, together with strategic partners, including the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board, have been working together to repair it to make this public market a focus for residents in the area again," he said.
He said the implementation of the programme also reflects the spirit of cross-agency cooperation between the government, industry and consumers in ensuring every initiative is implemented comprehensively and has a high impact.
