17/11/2025 06:10 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Turkmenistan held discussions to further strengthen bilateral relations that have been established for over three decades, including in the fields of halal, natural resources and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the discussions were held with Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Malaysia, Muhammetnyyaz Mashalov, who paid a courtesy call on the former at Parliament today.

Ahmad Zahid said the discussions also covered areas of investment, tourism, as well as collaboration in the technical sector and skills training.

"Turkmenistan is one of Malaysia's important partners in the Central Asian region, with strategic investments from PETRONAS, which is one of the largest foreign investors there.

"This close cooperation reflects our confidence towards the potential for broader collaboration in the future,” he posted on Facebook.

Ahmad Zahid also expressed his appreciation for the courtesy call by Mashalov and hopes that the good Malaysia-Turkmenistan ties will continue to grow for the benefit of the people of both countries.
