KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- MyGOV Malaysia mobile app, which uses MyDigital ID for digital authentication, is built to international security standards and does not copy or store people’s personal data, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo told the Dewan Rakyat today.
He said every service integrated into the platform must undergo security testing and data-protection compliance checks, in addition to risk assessments and system audits, before public rollout.
“MyGOV Malaysia remains a service-delivery platform without retaining any personal data. Integration is done through API (application programming interface), and all data stays securely within each agency’s own system.”
Gobind was responding to Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH–Tebrau), who asked how the ministry safeguards users’ personal information from third-party access.
The minister said the app’s operations are continuously monitored in line with national laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and the Cybersecurity Act 2024.
Since its beta launch on Aug 16, the MyGOV Malaysia app has recorded 113,000 downloads.
In its initial phase, the app integrates 36 services from 13 government agencies, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Immigration Department, National Registration Department (NRD), Social Welfare Department and MySejahtera.
Gobind said another 16 services are undergoing technical integration, covering driving licence renewals, road tax renewals, and traffic summons payments for both JPJ and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Upcoming features will include utility bill payments, zakat deductions and payments, as well as local authorities’ summons and tax payments.
“Applications for replacement MyKad via JPN, unclaimed money checks through the eGUMIS system, and access to the Ministry of Finance’s Manfaat portal are also being implemented to help citizens more easily verify eligibility for government aid and initiatives,” he added.
