MAIPK STRENGTHENS ISLAMIC ECONOMY AGENDA WITH NEW WAQF BUSINESS CENTRE

IPOH, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) continues its agenda to strengthen the Islamic economy with the construction of a Wakaf Business Centre (WBC) in Pulai Jaya, Simpang Pulai, which has been operational since May 1.

MAIPk Zakat Distribution Division general manager Suhaimi Yusuf said the project, worth RM400,000, began in 2020 and took three years to complete on the Bandar Pulai Jaya Mosque’s waqf land.

“The WBC houses two shoplots measuring 10’ x 20’, three bazaar units measuring 10’ x 14’, and five kiosks measuring 8’ x 8’ to provide traders with a more conducive and organised operating environment,” he said.

He was met after attending the Zakat Care 1.0 programme with the Perak Al Ridzuan Zakat Board (ZAPAR) and corporate zakat contributors at Taman Jati/Meru 3C here today.

Earlier, Suhaimi presented daily essentials and medical assistance under the Medical Aid Scheme to Nihayatul Nabilah Sabri, 25, who has been suffering from stroke and blood infection since February.

Meanwhile, he said the WBC, managed by Perbadanan Ekonomi Islam Perak Sdn Bhd, not only provides business space but also serves as a catalyst for the local economy by creating opportunities for small entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

At the same time, Suhaimi said MAIPk encourages more Muslims and stakeholders to contribute to waqf to strengthen Islamic economic development at the state level.

“Many are now more aware of the importance of waqf, but we hope more parties will contribute, as it is one of the best practices in enhancing the Islamic economy,” he said.
