JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- WM Senibong successfully raised RM100,000 through its Walk for Hope Charity Walkathon, an initiative aimed at supporting individuals with autism and raising public awareness.

Its chief executive officer, CK Quay said the initiative reflects the company commitment to fostering a more inclusive community.

“Everyone deserves the chance to shine in their own way. Through this initiative, we hope to bring people together, raise awareness and promote a society where every individual is valued,” he said in a statement today.

The funds would assist the Hope Garden Foundation in sustaining its educational and care initiatives for individuals, particularly children, with autism, he added.

He also expressed hope that the initiative would continue to nurture empathy and understanding within the community and encourage greater support for individuals with autism.

According to the Social Welfare Department, a total of 58,708 children with autism were registered nationwide as of Dec 31, 2024 with Selangor having the highest number at 12,905 cases, followed by Johor with 6,879 cases.

The event, held at Emerald 3, Crest@Austin here, yesterday brought together more than 1,000 participants comprising families, friends and supporters who walked in solidarity to promote understanding and inclusion for those on the autism spectrum.

Children from Hope Garden were among the early-morning crowd, joined by special guests Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse and Puteri Wangsa assemblyman Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz, who attended to show their support.

The programme featured stage performances, fun games, food trucks and complimentary health screenings, creating a lively atmosphere for participants of all ages.

A key highlight was the cheque presentation ceremony, during which WM Senibong contributed RM100,000 to Hope Garden.
