WAITING PERIOD FOR RMKU APPLICATIONS CUT TO THREE TO SIX MONTHS - EXCO

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Penang Housing Board (LPNPP) has introduced several initiatives for the Rumah MutiaraKu (RMKu) scheme, including shortening the waiting period for offer applications to three to six months from the date the application is updated.

State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo said the state government had taken note of the long waiting period for offers, especially for Low-Cost Housing (RMKu A) and Low-Medium Cost Houses (RMKu B).

In this regard, he said that LPNPP had carried out a data screening process for the Housing Information System (SMP), with most previously registered applicants being disqualified due to several factors, particularly the current household income limit.

“All applicants who are still interested and eligible must update their current information to ensure that their applications remain active. Applicants who fail to update their details will be classified as inactive and will not be considered for an offer.

“This will help reduce the number of applications and subsequently shorten the waiting period,” he said, at the Penang state assembly sitting today, in response to a question from Bukhori Ghazali (PN-Pinang Tunggal), regarding the application guidelines for RMKu A, RMKu B and RMKu C housing units, as well as efforts to shorten the waiting time.

Sundarajoo said that, to date, the total number of applications on the waiting list stands at 6,249 in the LPNPP SMP, while the number of RMKu A and RMKu B units completed since 2020 totals 8,567 units, comprising 3,420 RMKu A units and 5,147 RMKu B units, as of last month.

RMKu is a state government initiative to provide housing for low-income Penangites who do not yet own a home, in line with the Penang State Structure Plan 2020 (RSNPP).
