FULL REPORT ON ECRL STRUCTURE COLLAPSE READY IN TWO WEEKS – KESUMA

22/11/2025 05:35 PM

REMBAU, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The full report on the temporary structure collapse at the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project on Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) in Batu Caves is expected to be ready within two weeks, the Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma) said.

Its secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said the relevant authorities, including the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, have visited the site and are collecting information before the report is finalised.

“So, let’s wait for about a week to a week and a half to obtain the report’s findings, and based on that, we will then determine the next steps, whether it involves court action or other measures.

“This is a technical matter; there are many aspects to consider, including legal context. We need to know the cause of this incident — whether it was due to technical aspects or not following the scope. All of this will be investigated,” he told reporters after launching the Kesuma MADANI Adopted Village Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Chembong here today.

He said any possibilities, including negligence, technical faults, or non-compliance with standard operating procedures, will also be determined once the investigation report is completed.

Azman advised all parties involved in construction work to adhere to workplace safety regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Last Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad was reported as saying that the collapse of the temporary structure was believed to have been caused by a collision involving the boom of the crane used for paint thickness inspections.

Regarding today’s programme, Azman said Kampung Chembong Batu 17A and Kampung Air Hitam were selected as the ministry’s adopted villages, while SK Chembong was chosen as the adopted school.
