ALOR SETAR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Even though faced with the stressful conditions being stranded due to floods in Thailand, Malaysians there expressed their gratitude towards Thai citizens over their care and concern, especially towards a hotel that is offering free accommodation.
Cuti Cuti Langkawi Sdn Bhd general manager Dr Baharin Baharom, who is currently in Hatyai, said that the hotel management also provided free food for their stranded guests.
“But we have checked out of the hotel just now as we were informed there were boats on their way but after waiting for three hours, there is still no sign of them.
“We have also been instructed to vacate the hotel lobby as the water is rising. The second wave is worse, even though the hotel is on high ground but water has entered the lobby,” he said in a statement today.
The Malaysian embassy has also sent food for the elderly and children, he added.
“After this, the hotel might not be able to prepare food as their kitchen has also been flooded. Guests may also be unable to charge their mobile phones as the generator cannot be started.
“But I urge the Malaysian embassy or the Thai government to send medicine needed by the elderly, some who suffer from heart disease and hypertension,” he added.
