FLOODS: PM ANWAR URGES RESIDENTS IN HIGH-RISK AREAS  TO BE VIGILANT, OBEY INSTRUCTIONS

24/11/2025 11:47 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Although currently far away in Kenya for his three-nation visit to the African continent, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is very concerned over the increasingly severe floods affecting seven states and involving more than 15,000 victims at present.

In a post on his Facebook page, he reminded residents in high-risk areas to stay vigilant and comply with instructions issued by the authorities, especially when asked to evacuate immediately, while prioritising their families’ safety.

“According to the reports I received, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) together with all related agency assets have been fully mobilised to the affected areas to rescue those still trapped and ensure that immediate assistance reaches all victims.

“The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) has also been deployed to Kelantan, which is the worst affected, and stands ready to assist other states to expedite on-the-ground rescue and emergency response operations,” he said.

At the same time, he said the government has mobilised Skuad Ihsan MADANI teams to all affected areas to help manage the welfare of flood victims at nearly 100 temporary relief centres (PPS) opened across seven states.

He also prayed that all flood victims be granted strength, resilience, and protection from any harm in facing this ordeal.

Kelantan is among the most severely affected states, with victims reported to be nearing 10,000 tonight, followed by Perak, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Terengganu.
