MARANG, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- A total of 538 flood evacuees at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Payong temporary relief centre here were forced to relocate after the area was inundated.
Terengganu Social Welfare Department (JKM) director Mazura Ngah Abd Manan said the flood victims were moved to SK Wakaf Tapai and SK Paya Resak relief centres at about 7 pm today.
She said the relocation was carried out with assistance from the Kuala Terengganu police headquarters and the Civil Defence Force.
“The relief centre at SK Bukit Payong, which was opened on Wednesday (Nov 26), had to be closed after it was flooded following continuous heavy rain throughout the day.
“The evacuation was carried out in stages by rescue personnel,” she said when contacted tonight.
