"ANAK MUDA MADANI KEDAH" TO MOBILISE POST-FLOOD HELP TO CLEAN HOMES

ALOR SETAR,  Nov 29 (Bernama) — A non-governmental organisation (NGO),  Persatuan Anak Muda MADANI Kedah, will mobilise efforts to help clean the houses of flood victims in the state after the water recedes completely.

Its chairman, Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, said the initiative would be coordinated with other NGOs and the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to ensure more effective assistance.

“We are ready to send a team of volunteers to support flood victims who face a heavy burden when cleaning their homes after returning from the relief centres (PPS).

“We are not just providing food baskets or financial aid, but focusing on addressing the main needs of the victims once they get back home,” he told reporters today.

Earlier, Zuraidi visited the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Perdana, where 396 flood victims from 117 families are being accommodated, and distributed food baskets to them.

Zuraidi emphasised that the involvement of NGOs and volunteers is crucial in easing the burden of flood victims, helping them return to normal life after the disaster.

He also noted that government agencies such as JKM, the Civil Defence Force (APM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and other relevant bodies have been working tirelessly to assist flood victims over the past few days.

“With the support of NGOs, which are always active in helping the community, we can accelerate and facilitate the recovery process after the flood,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zuraidi said that the association had prepared up to 5,000 food baskets for distribution to flood victims in Kedah, with more than 1,000 baskets already handed out.
