GUA MUSANG, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The landslide at Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing FT185, Section 107.6 at Pos Blau here early today is believed to have been caused by underground water flow, said district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo.
He said there was still soil movement in the area, posing a risk of further landslides.
“The collapsed portion of the road spans roughly 120 metres and is 30 to 35 metres deep.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that underground water movement is likely the cause of the collapse. Two days ago, small cracks had already appeared along this stretch, and the Fire and Rescue Department and the Public Works Department have been monitoring the site,” he told reporters at the scene.
Earlier, the Gua Musang Public Works Department said that the road section is closed to all traffic from today until further notice to facilitate safety and recovery operations.
