UKM WELCOMES THREE NEW DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLORS

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) today welcomed the appointment of three new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for a two-year term effective yesterday (Dec 3).

They are Prof Dr Ismanizan Ismail, appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Affairs; Prof Ts Dr Norinsan Kamil Othman as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Students and Alumni Affairs; and Prof Dr Bariah Mohd Ali as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Industry and Community Partnerships Affairs.

UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sufian Jusoh said he is confident that the extensive experience and distinguished reputations of the three new Deputy Vice-Chancellors will strengthen UKM’s role as a leader in higher education and further contribute to national development.

“The entire UKM community congratulates them on their appointments,” he said in a statement today.

In the same statement, UKM said Prof Dr Ismanizan previously served as the director of PERMATA@Pintar Negara Centre, the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS) and the Centre for Research and Instrumentation Management (CRIM).

“He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and is a biotechnology expert in the fields of sustainable resources, environment, and smart living,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Norinsan holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Corrosion Science and Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

“Previously, he served as the director of UKM’s Student Affairs Centre and has been performing the functions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Students and Alumni Affairs since April.

“Prof Dr Bariah is a contact lens optometrist specialist with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She was formerly a member of the UKM Board of Directors and had served as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences,” UKM said.
