KLANG, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Food and Agro-based Industry Carnival (IMAT) 2025 has recorded a total sales value of RM12.34 million, exceeding the initial target of RM10 million, said Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri.
He said this year's event included 15 parliamentary constituencies, eight state-level locations, two locations together with the Jom Heboh Carnival and two IMAT Special Carnival locations.
"We also aim to organise IMAT in 30 locations and currently we have reached 26 locations with a sales value of RM12.34 million, this was achieved with the support of all parties, especially entrepreneurs, as well as with the cooperation of the state government to attract more visitors to IMAT.
"After this, the IMAT Carnival will move to Alor Gajah, Melaka; Arau, Perlis; Alor Setar, Kedah and Parit Buntar, Perak,” he said when met after the Opening Ceremony of the IMAT @ Selangor Carnival.
Also present at today’s event was the deputy secretary-general (development) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Luqman Ahmad.
Commenting on the organisation of the Selangor state-level IMAT Carnival, Abdul Rashid said the programme, which is targeted to record a sales value of RM500,000, is expected to attract 25,000 visitors and will benefit 130 entrepreneurs.
He said that apart from aiming to promote agro-based products as a high-potential business sector, the carnival is also a platform to attract the interest of the younger generation to see the marketing of agricultural products as a profitable, modern and relevant career.
“The IMAT @ Selangor Carnival also plays an important role in highlighting the products and services of local entrepreneurs, thus opening up opportunities for them to diversify their economic activities and increase their income,” he said.
Meanwhile, Luqman said visitors would also enjoy low price offers of between five and 30 per cent on various basic goods and food products throughout the carnival held at AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi parking lot, Klang until tomorrow.
He said the price cuts were given as an effort to help the public get fresh goods and basic necessities at reasonable prices.
The IMAT @ Selangor Carnival will feature various activities including sales of agro-based industry products, popular food sales, People Market, floriculture and local fruits.
In addition, there will be Ehsan Rahmah Sales, ANGKASA sales, as well as IMAT Combos and Madani Combos priced at RM10 each for 300 units and 3,000 units respectively.
