PUTRAJAYA, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) welcomed the Denmark Parliament Ombudsman’s interest in establishing cooperation and sharing expertise to enhance the agency’s capacity in corruption prevention and governance.

Ombudsman Christian Britten Lundblad said he and his team are ready to share the philosophy, experiences and ideas behind the ombudsman concept as practised worldwide.

Lundblad, who is also President of the Frederiksberg Court in Denmark, noted that the Ombudsman institution in his country has the authority to investigate corruption cases as well as general matters related to public sector governance.

He made the remarks during a courtesy visit to MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya at the commission’s headquarters here yesterday.

Denmark does not have a dedicated entity for corruption investigation and prevention, but the Denmark Parliament Ombudsman’s Office is among the key bodies addressing corruption, integrity breaches, and governance issues in the public sector.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Khusairi said Denmark’s strong governance mechanisms, robust integrity framework, and the Ombudsman’s role could serve as a reference for strengthening Malaysia’s public administration accountability and integrity, with the meeting emphasising transparency, enforcement improvements and governance reforms.

Also present during the visit were MACC senior officials, including Policy, Planning and Research director Datuk Rasidah Abdul Karim, National Governance Planning Division deputy director Mohd Gunawan Che Ab Aziz, Denmark’s Ambassador to Malaysia H.E. Kristine Vangkilde Berner, and several senior officials from the Danish government.
