GOVT AGENCIES URGED TO BOOST SUPPORT FOR MUSLIM, BUMIPUTERA SMES

13/12/2025 04:34 PM

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Government agencies should provide comprehensive infrastructure and facilitation support to Muslim and Bumiputera small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including in Penang, to ensure sustainable economic development.

Penang Muslim League president Datuk Haja Najmudeen Kader said such support is crucial as Muslim and Bumiputera entrepreneurs continue to face challenges that require proper infrastructure and continuous guidance to help their businesses grow and remain competitive.

He said the Muslim Economic Development Agenda Convention (APEM), held here today, serves as a platform to align cooperation among government agencies, industry players and entrepreneurs towards a shared goal of SME development.

“Many entrepreneurs aspire to expand their businesses but lack the necessary infrastructure. This is why support from agencies with the capacity and facilities to assist is essential,” he told reporters after officiating at the convention.

Haja Najmudeen said the involvement of various agencies at the convention would open opportunities for integrated cooperation in developing the Muslim and Bumiputera economy.

He said agencies invited to participate in the convention included the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), TEKUN Nasional and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS).

Resolutions from the convention, including proposals to strengthen collaborative economic development efforts, will be submitted to Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, he added.
