MALAYSIA, TURKIYE ENHANCE AUDIT COLLABORATION THROUGH MOU

15/12/2025 07:13 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Turkiye have agreed to enhance technical cooperation in auditing, including the sharing of expertise and experience through joint training programmes, working visits and knowledge-sharing sessions.

The National Audit Department (JAN), in a statement today, said that the cooperation was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JAN and the Turkish Court of Accounts (Supreme Audit Institution of Turkiye), marking the first such agreement between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed following a courtesy call by President of the Turkish Court of Accounts Metin Yener on Auditor-General Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi at the department’s headquarters here today.

“The ceremony reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthen professional ties and enhance technical cooperation in auditing between Malaysia and the Republic of Turkiye,” the statement read.

For the first three years of its implementation, the MoU action plan will cover collaboration between JAN and the Supreme Audit Institution of Turkiye in areas including digitalisation audit, climate change and environmental audit, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals.

It will also involve specialised knowledge-sharing in other audit fields based on each institution’s core expertise.

“The signing of this MoU will further strengthen the close relationship between the audit institutions of Malaysia and Turkiye through active engagement and professional cooperation on international platforms such as the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) and the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI),” JAN said.

The Supreme Audit Institution of Turkiye is currently a member of the INTOSAI Working Group on Follow-up Audit (WGFA) and the ASOSAI Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit (WGSOEA), both chaired by the Auditor-General of Malaysia.

JAN said the MoU is expected to serve as a foundation for transformative cooperation between Malaysia and the Republic of Turkiye in supporting the agenda of integrity, transparency and effective public financial management at the national, regional and international levels.
