KUANTAN, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Pahang government has resolved 98 per cent of settler land ownership issues, thanks to the continuous efforts by various parties in tackling the longstanding issue.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the achievement proves the state government’s commitment to ensure the rights of almost 43,000 settlers in the state are protected and resolved according to regulations.
“With the handover of ownership titles today, we have achieved 98 per cent resolution of settler land ownership issues. Some of them have had to wait over 42 years to receive their land titles, but the delay was unintentional,” he said after the handover of land titles for Felda Lepar Utara 1, 2 and 4 as well as Tanah Rakyat Scheme settlers here today, adding that the delays involved compliance with set procedures and regulations.
Efforts to resolve the remaining two per cent will continue but they mostly involve technical issues regarding inheritance, Wan Rosdy said.
He also advised settlers who received their land titles to take care of their properties well and to maintain or increase existing revenue.
