KUALA LANGAT, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- The Goat Breeding Project in the Kampung Endah Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) is growing larger with more structured planning to increase livestock capacity, diversify sources of income and strengthen community involvement.

Kampung Endah KRT chairman Kamal Ali said the project not only aims to generate sustainable income, but also strengthen the local economy through direct involvement of residents in livestock management.

He said the project received an allocation of RM50,000 from the Ministry of National Unity for the construction of stables, stores and maintenance equipment, for more systematic long-term planning.

“The KRT committee can then plan to expand the project to meet community needs and market demand,” he told Bernama.

According to Kamal, the farm, which has been operating for over a year, now houses 30 sheep with a selling price of RM500 to RM2,000 each, besides marketing value-added products such as roast lamb (kambing golek) and marinated lamb (kambing perap), which have seen encouraging sales.

Meanwhile, project manager Muhammad Maryus Mardi, 55, is drafting a new concept of 'Chalet Biri-Biri' (sheep chalet), which are 30 small pens on a five-acre oil palm plantation to enable the public to purchase sheep to be managed by KRT members. Each shed costs RM2,200 raising five goats, offering long-term returns when newborn lambs become the property of the buyer.

The KRT Kampung Endah community also operates RT Corner, which sells local small and medium industry (SMI) products such as flowers, chips and bakawali (essential) oil.

Its manager Norulhuda Md Sairi said RT Corner, which operates every Friday to Sunday, has generated income of up to RM2,000 a week, with Bromeliad flowers and chips being the main sales.

"Bromeliad flowers are the highest contributor with demand from local and outside customers.

"They are produced by local women," she said.

Kampung Endah is the first settlement in the Kuala Langat district to receive recognition as a Rukun Tetangga Penggerak Komuniti Progresif (Progressive Community Mobiliser) under the Ministry of Unity since 2024 and is listed in the 2025 MADANI Adopted Village Programme.
