YADIM, 27 IPTS COLLABORATE TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL DAKWAH AGENDA - ZULKIFLI

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- The collaboration between Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) and 27 public and private institutions of higher learning (IPTs) represents the largest initiative ever undertaken to strengthen the national dakwah agenda.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the collaboration involves the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 27 public and private institutions of higher learning, covering various areas such as module development, publications, writing, and the engagement of academic expertise to support dakwah efforts in a more structured and high-impact manner.

He said the increasingly complex challenges and realities of the current environment require greater input and guidance from institutions of higher learning, particularly through research and studies, to ensure that each initiative is implemented more comprehensively, systematically and with tangible impact on society.

“This collaboration is important as we aim to leverage the expertise available at universities to take more effective joint steps, ensuring that the dakwah agenda is implemented based on knowledge and aligned with current needs,” he told reporters after the MoU signing ceremony at the Wilayah Mosque here today.

Also present to witness the signing was Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Zulkifli said cooperation between YADIM and universities has long been in place, including through student involvement, but the current initiative adopts a more comprehensive approach by emphasising the optimal use of academic expertise.

The MoUs, which are effective for periods of between three and five years, aim to further strengthen the dakwah agenda in line with the Malaysia MADANI vision, which emphasises the values of morality, knowledge and community well-being.

Among the public universities involved are Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), while private institutions include Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) and Multimedia University (MMU).
