KG PACHITAN, PORT DICKSON, FIRST MADANI ADOPTED VILLAGE FOCUSING ON OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH

21/12/2025 08:35 PM

PORT DICKSON, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will develop Kampung Pachitan here as the first MADANI Adopted Village to focus on occupational safety and health (OSH) training to benefit homestay operators and the tourism sector.

NIOSH executive director Datuk Ayop Salleh said Kampung Pachitan was selected as the adopted village as it was well known for its homestay programme, which is a preferred choice among tourists as well as industrial workers from nearby power plants.

He said occupational safety and health aspects must be given serious attention to ensure the well-being of the community, tourists and industrial workers residing in the area.

“NIOSH is using facilities in Kampung Pachitan as a worker training centre and for community capacity building.

“We want to provide a different training environment for participants, where they can stay in homestays and attend training at a hall that will be completed early next year,” he said at the NIOSH-organised Kampung Pachitan Community Gotong-Royong and Beautification Programme today.

The programme was officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Ayop said an allocation of RM1 million had been provided to implement various development projects, including the construction of a covered community hall, a children’s playground, support for residents’ economic projects and the upgrading of homestay facilities.

He said through the MADANI Adopted School Programme, an additional RM100,000 allocation was also channelled via NIOSH to Sekolah Menengah Agama Chuah for the upgrading of school field facilities.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the effort could ensure the safety of residents and tourists staying at homestays in the area and provide significant benefits to the local community.

The Port Dickson MP said the state government would continue to support NIOSH’s efforts to inculcate OSH aspects in Kampung Pachitan, including the implementation of related courses.

He said the state government was committed to assisting NIOSH in enhancing OSH standards in homestay management, community activities as well as exposing youths to career opportunities in related fields.
