HANNAH COMMITTED TO CLEAN, TRANSPARENT AND BASIC SERVICES IN FT ADMINISTRATION

22/12/2025 10:42 AM

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh has reiterated her commitment to administer the Federal Territories in a clean manner in terms of environment and governance, with emphasis on basic services and the real needs of the people.

She said the initial agenda of her administration was to ensure that Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan become clean territories not only in terms of the environment but also the integrity of governance.

"Form and substance means not only a clean environment, but also clean governance. That is my priority," she told the media after officially reporting in with her deputy Datuk Lo Su Fui, here today.

Yeoh said she and her deputy have legal backgrounds which are an advantage in understanding governance and current issues related to the law in Federal Territories.

"The strategic appointment of the Deputy Minister from Sabah also reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that Labuan receives greater attention and support," she said.

Commenting on the concerns of some parties regarding racial issues following her appointment, Yeoh stressed that racial background or skin colour has never been a determining factor in the execution of her duties as a leader.

"Since 2008, whether as a state assemblyman, Speaker, Member of Parliament for Segambut, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Minister of Youth and Sports, my focus has always remained on policies and implementation and results of work, and not on the colour of my skin.

"My mind and heart have always been committed to serving the people and I am ready to work immediately and let my record of achievement be the proof," she stressed.

She said that armed with that experience, she would give priority and close cooperation to all Federal Territories Members of Parliament.

"As representatives of the people, they understand the pulse of their respective constituencies and that is the voice of democracy that deserves to be heard and the voice of the people is represented by our members of Parliament," she said.
