DUNGUN, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Ketengah Holding Sdn Bhd (KHSB), a subsidiary of Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah), contributed RM6.2 million in zakat (tithe) to the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIDAM) this year.
Ketengah general manager Datuk Tengku Ahmad Nadzri Tengku Musa said the contribution was derived from profits generated by companies under the KHSB group.
“The group comprises plantation and manufacturing companies involved mainly in the production and processing of oil palm, in addition to ventures in quarrying, property, tourism, education and livestock farming,” he told reporters after the Ketengah Holdings Zakat Distribution Ceremony for the Dungun parliamentary constituency at Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah here today.
The ceremony was officiated by Dungun Parliamentary Kemas Community chairman Datuk Din Adam.
At the event, 320 individuals from the constituency received zakat assistance.
Tengku Ahmad Nadzri said Ketengah also received a zakat rebate of RM1.9 million to be distributed to eligible recipients, with RM500,000 channelled to 2,560 recipients across eight parliamentary constituencies in Terengganu this year.
