KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today held a meeting with the newly appointed secretary-general of the Ministry of Communications, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, to formally congratulate him.
In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid said he took the opportunity to express appreciation for Abdul Halim's leadership at the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) during the meeting in Putrajaya.
“I then met with the new Director-General of NADMA, Tuan Meor Ismail Meor Hakim. Our discussions focused on boosting national preparedness for climate change challenges and on building a more organised and effective disaster response capacity,” he said.
He also received a courtesy call from the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman, emphasising the force’s vital role as the frontline agency in safeguarding public safety.
The session concluded with the presentation of the Instrument of Appointment to Mohammad Abiddin as the Chief Commissioner of APM.
He added that today’s meetings were part of ongoing efforts to ensure the government’s delivery system is well-prepared, well-coordinated, and truly beneficial to the people.
