JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Three postgraduate students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) today received the UTM Professors’ Council Endowment Scholarship in recognition of their academic excellence at a ceremony held at the university.
The recipients for this session are Mohd Amirul Mukminin Latirin from the Faculty of Science, Saranya Devi K. Pavithran from the Faculty of Management, and Megat Irfan Zackry Ismail from the Faculty of Computing.
The scholarship certificates were presented by UTM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, underscoring the university’s continued support for high-performing students with the potential to make significant contributions in their respective fields.
Mohd Shafry said the scholarship initiative reflects UTM’s ongoing commitment to sustaining excellence in academic and research pursuits.
“UTM remains committed to providing comprehensive support to ensure that the university’s academic and research endeavours are carried out with distinction,” he said in a statement.
He said universities play a vital role in nurturing the nation’s top talents who are capable of contributing to societal and national development through innovation, high-quality research and sustainable solutions.
Meanwhile, UTM Professors’ Council chairman Prof Dr Mazlan Hashim said the scholarship fund is the result of continuous contributions from UTM professors, including several members of the university’s administrative staff.
“This fund is raised through the collective commitment of UTM professors who are concerned about student welfare, via regular monthly salary deductions, one-off contributions and external donations mobilised by professors,” he said.
He said the initiative reflects the spirit of solidarity and care within the academic community in ensuring more students have the opportunity to pursue their studies and achieve academic excellence.
According to the statement, UTM will continue to strengthen its culture of academic excellence and talent development through various strategic initiatives, in line with the university’s aspiration to be a leader in innovation and sustainable solutions for the well-being of society and the nation.
