JPJ TERENGGANU TAKES ACTION AGAINST 2,682 VEHICLES IN SPECIAL OPS

KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Terengganu has taken action against 2,682 vehicles for various offences under ‘Ops Khas Perang Lebih Muatan 2025’ carried out from September to December 2025.

Terengganu JPJ director Mohd Zamri Samion said the figure was the result of inspections conducted on 22,754 vehicles, including Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and Goods Vehicles.

He said of the total vehicles acted against, 4,447 notices were issued, while 4,595 summonses were imposed for various offences, including expired motor vehicle licences (LKM), expired insurance coverage, overloading and other technical offences.

“A total of 29 vehicles were seized during the operation, which was conducted specifically following serious crash incidents involving commercial vehicles.

“Enforcement is not aimed at punishment alone, but to prevent crashes, protect the lives of road users and ensure that commercial vehicles are in roadworthy condition,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Zamri said the strategic and risk-focused enforcement activities implemented by JPJ Terengganu had yielded positive results, with a reduction in fatal crash cases recorded during several special operations last year.

For example, he said a total of 840 crash cases were recorded during the implementation of the Special Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Ops HRA) 2025, compared with 968 cases during Ops HRA 2024.

“Fatalities also dropped significantly to seven cases during Ops HRA 2025, compared with 24 cases during Ops HRA 2024. For the Special Ops Hari Raya Aidiladha (HRAA) 2025, fatal cases decreased to three, compared with 17 cases during Ops HRAA 2024.

“This reduction is not a coincidence, but the result of a strategic approach towards risk-focused enforcement, action against high-impact offences and the presence of enforcement personnel at strategic locations,” he said.

In the meantime, Mohd Zamri said a total of RM2,539,521 in outstanding summonses was successfully collected from Nov 1 to Dec 31 last year.

“A total of 19,768 transactions were recorded through the 50 per cent summons discount programme conducted by JPJ Malaysia.

“This offer was aimed at providing an opportunity for the public to settle outstanding summonses, while at the same time increasing the level of compliance with the law,” he said.
