KASIH JOHOR VOUCHER TO SPUR SPENDING AT KG MELAYU MAJIDI PUBLIC MARKET, MEDAN NIAGA - MB

JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 5 (Bernama) -- Residents of Kampung Melayu Majidi here will receive Johor Kasih vouchers worth RM200 per family starting next month, aimed at encouraging purchases at the public market and the Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu Majidi.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the pilot programme is a strategic initiative to strengthen support for local traders while boosting the local economy.

“This pilot programme must be supported by the commitment of traders to continuously improve food quality, dish presentation, premises cleanliness and customer service,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the initiative aligns with the state government’s aspiration to position the market as a model and benchmark for more organised, clean, comfortable and people-friendly food court management.

Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz said he also inspected the operations and facilities at the Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu Majidi yesterday, accompanied by state Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah and state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

He said the visit was not only aimed at ensuring the welfare of traders and the comfort of visitors remained a priority, but also served as a platform for open engagement with traders.

“Through this visit, we were able to hear first-hand the views, suggestions and challenges faced in their daily business operations,” he said.

He added that the state government had earlier implemented various initiatives to support local traders at the trade fair, including offering rental discounts of up to 50 per cent until the end of the year.

Several facilities have also been upgraded, such as the installation of fly traps and televisions, along with improvements to cleanliness and overall comfort in the food court area.
